Toshiaki Hirai


Toshiaki Hirai is professor emeritus, Sophia University, Tokyo. His main interest has been in: Keynes’s theoretical development; economic theory and social philosophy in the interwar Cambridge; the Wicksell Connection; the development of macroeconomics, and globalization. He worked as a council member of ESHET, and served as President of the Keynes Society Japan (KSJ). His publications include Keynes's Theoretical Development, Routledge, 2008, The Return to Keynes, The Belknap Press of Harvard University Press, 2010 (ed. by B. Bateman, T. Hirai and M.C. Marcuzzo), “Exploring Hawtrey’s Social Philosophy through His Unpublished Book, Right Policy”, Journal of the History of Economic Thought, 34-2, 2012. He is now editing Capitalism and the World Economy, Routledge.
